Meet the Borbons! Married June 17, 2017.
Here is their story as told by beautiful bride Jamie…
“We met via his cousin when we were both still in high school. At that point, we were both in other relationships so our friendship was pretty casual and it wasn’t until years later when we were in college that we reconnected. We spent time getting to know each other and courting since we had just spent years in previous relationships but almost immediately I knew he was the one. I had always prayed for heart bursting love and would ask God to send me the man I deserved when I was fully ready to be with the one He chose for me and there he was in all of his glory.
He was my best friend and most favorite companion. He willingly took me higher when I was already high. He was always ready to trek any road with me, shoes tied and arms wide open. His love soothed any and every wound. His ethics, the way he carried himself, the way he treated me and my family, and the fact that he endlessly praised Jesus Christ – all the heart eyes – literally fell head over heels, madly in love, with him!
Our first date was at Plaza Azteca and funny story – he was so nervous he kept drinking mojitos. So much so that I had to threaten him with a fork that if he kept drinking mojitos I would leave him there. Looking back we laugh at it all the time, it was a moment we had that has created so many inside jokes!
The proposal was unconventional – I wanted no surprises. I didn’t want the whole climax, roses, gather all of your family and friends thing. We were shopping out of town, when we were done shopping and got into our car, he popped open the ring box, asked for my hand in marriage, I said yes, and our happily ever after elongated right there and then. I believed that that moment should be shared between the two people getting married, in privacy, in a non-chaotic way in order for them to actually indulge in the moment. We don’t regret it one bit and if we could we would relieve it over and over again.
Favorite wedding detail? Definitely everything! The day was so us and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Wedding detail that tops everything? Walking into the church and seeing my groom-to-be standing there smiling from ear to ear at me. We for sure pinched ourselves! We couldn’t believe the day had finally come and went. We still had family in our house that were from out of time so anyone every moment we had together for ourselves we spoke about how surreal it felt to finally be married. To this day, it still has not sunk in.
We had to postpone our honeymoon due to work commitments but we will be going to the Dominican Republic and we cannot wait! Future plans – grow old together, travel, raise kids, binge on our favorite TV shows, praise Jesus Christ until the end of time, and love – endless endless love. Our advice for couples planning a wedding – celebrate it in the way that is most meaningful to you. Do what you want to do, how you want to do it, when you want to do, and where you want to do it. The day goes by so so fast and it would be heartbreaking if you looked back on it in regret.”- Mrs. Jamie Borbon
