Meet the Diaz’s :
How did you meet & when did know this was “the” one ?
“We met at the movie theater. I was 11 and he was 12. I was with my girlfriend waiting outside for her dad to pick us up and he was with a group of his friends. He kept looking over at me as he was telling his friends that I was beautiful. One of them said that he wouldn’t dare come to me and get my number. So, he felt he had to prove himself and he came up to me and said, “You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen, can I have your number?” (How cliche.) I put my phone in my back pocket and said I don’t have a phone. As I walked away he saw the phone in my back pocket. Nothing happened then. Then we meet again at our friends cookout when I was 15 and he was 16. Turns out our best friends were dating each other. This time it was different, I didn’t know he was the boy from the movies a few years ago but he knew I was the girl.
He had a different approach and I couldn’t resist. Jorge and I loved each other since the very beginning. We were sprung. Now we catch ourselves continuously falling in love. I would say after going through so much with one person and that “one” being with, behind and beside you the whole time through whatever, it really puts you into perspective on who is really for you & that truly takes time. I always pictured marrying Jorge but I guess what I’m trying to say is marriage is so much more than “puppy love” or being “sprung”. You really need to go through trials and tribulations to know what’s really up.”
Where was your 1st date?
“Our first date was at the movie theater where we met. Jorge always had a familiar face to me when we started dating and he would just make jokes like we were together in our past life and I’d just laugh it off. After a few months into the relationship it finally came to me! I asked him if he ever hit on a girl at the theater and he said, “You caught me”. He was planning on taking that to the grave. Lol The pride of men”
How did he propose?
“On Saturday morning of June 25th, he sent me on a scavenger hunt. Each spot having a clue, which were four thought out very clever letters that lead to the next. The first clue was at our home. In this clue he stated how he wanted to do something nice for me & how he’s ready. I honestly thought he was getting me a fish tank. Second letter/clue was our favorite restaurant. There they made & named a signature drink after me, this made me feel special and now they carry it on the menu for good “The Cassandra”. Third happened to be the first place we met, which was a pleasant reminder of how far we’ve come since then. At this point I knew it was more than a fish tank. As I opened the gate to the fourth and final destination, all the children from my family and his were lined up very nicely to form an isle leading to Jorge. Behind them and all around were both of our families and closest friends. As I walked down, each of them handed me a red rose. Jorge seemed so nervous but at the same time so happy, as I. It was one of the best days of my life. Aside from my wedding of course.”
Why did you select your venue?
“The two main reasons we chose this venue were- the ceremony site in the pavilion was simply breathtaking & there were so many beautiful flowers everywhere. I always pictured a garden like wedding and having all the flowers already there would save us a fortune on the florists. Fun Fact: I was introduced to this venue through Instagram. Not “the knot” or “wedding wire”. One of my friends had posted a few pictures of the wedding. I saw a photo of the ceremony underneath the pavilion and fell in love with the scene via photo. Shout out to Valerie, I asked her for the information and we made an appointment to see the venue that week!
Favorite wedding details?
“It rained during my ceremony. My parents thought I would be devastated but it actually brought me to a moment of clarity. You see, I like the rain, & through all the chaos and clutter hearing it brought me peace. Smelling the summer rain brought me comfort because it’s such a familiar smell that I know I will smell in the future and when I do I will always be reminded of that moment. The rain yelled “ROMANCE” & whispered “protected”.”
Also my cake. I couldn’t be happier with how it came out. Who said your wedding cake should be a light color? EVERYONE, even the vendors. “This isn’t your traditional cake”, they’d say. (Pet peeve) This is 2017! I get going the traditional route but you have to make your wedding unique and add your personal touch whether it’s the norm or not. The day after your wedding what did you do? The entire wedding party stood at the same hotel so we all went to breakfast that morning & from there I started running wedding related errands right away. The wedding being over doesn’t mean the work is totally done. Gotta return rented items, open gifts/cards, collect all the items you want to save from your big day etc.”
What are your future plans?
“We plan on progressing in our careers and really going hard this year being that this passed year we were so focused on the wedding. Kids? We say 2+ years. Advice for couples planning a wedding? Have patience & always remember the goal. You’re there to commit yourself as one for the rest of your life , at the end of the day that’s what really matters. Not absolutely everything is going to go the way you plan so when it doesn’t just remember what the goal is. Also, hire Tania to take your photos! To be honest when I heard about wedding photography pricing from all kinds of vendors including Tania I was a bit shocked but that’s because I wasn’t well aware of the importance of these photos and what is really being done. Your wedding photos are the only lasting memory you will have of your special day. Brides and grooms spend so much time and money on the details of their wedding they should have it all photographed in a beautiful and tasteful way. A professional photographer knows how to capture the emotions and meaningful moments that can pass by in an instant. Tania’s photos show for themselves. Not only can you tell the beauty of my big day, her talent is exceptional and does not go unnoticed.”
