On August 16, 2015 I arrived that the Historic Acres of Hershey to celebrate and photograph the marriage of Nikki and Joel Heffner. I was so pleasantly welcomed by the gorgeous grounds and knew that from the moment I walked in to “The Farmhouse” and was greeted by a katydid, that it was going to be a perfect day! I almost gasped ( ok I did gasp) at the amazing light in this venue. I gasped even more so when I saw Nikki in her wedding day glow! Patricia, of Makeup By Trish and her stylist, Ashley Darinsig, did an amazing job with hair and makeup!
The stage was certainly set for pure amazingness…the light was aglow and the bride matched! Everything was completely perfect. Nikki and Joel were completely adorable as they got ready to do their 1st look. As you will see, Nikki took some breaths as we coached Joel up the stairs “Stop-ok- look up….go…slowly….ok- Turn her around”! It was a beautiful moment…the sweet giggles and tender hugs were just incredibly beautiful to be a witness too!
Nikki choose her grandmother to be her matron of honor. I LOVED her! She is sweet, sassy and fabulous…the perfect bridesmaid really! Joel’s best friend , Isaac came all the way from Arkansas to be his best man. It was a small and intimate group that shared the laughter and love of a million. Brother Melusky, gave a beautiful bible based talk on marriage and the roles within the marriage arrangement. He was the 1st person I have ever seen give the bride and groom a gift during the ceremony. What did he give them you ask?
He gave them ( and I may be off a little on the meaning but…here goes) Band-Aids for when feeling are hurt, remember to be healing with your words….Chewing gum to remember that you need to stick together…Erasers to remind you that everyone makes mistakes, do not keep account of it all…Lifesavers to remind you of God’s word and that it will help in times of need…A pencil without a point to remember that you have no point in arguing- do not write it all down…a rubber band to remind you to be flexible and a Hershey’s Kiss to remember the sweetness in marriage…oh and for kisses of course! There were more, but these little reminders are awesome and I know that Nikki and Joel loved having this as their 1st gift as a married couple.
The venue is absolutely beautiful. The details put into this day really embraced the burlap and lace theme of the day. Nikki and Joel put a lot of thought into each detail. The mason jars were hand-stamped by them. Each guest was able to personalize it with a heart! The gorgeous initials on the table and the Mr. +Mrs. that hung from the fire place were made by Joel. This was the 1st time I had ever seen pies served in place of wedding cake and guess what…IT WAS AWESOME! Everyone danced and laughed and had an amazing time! Nikki and Joel, thank you for choosing me to be a part of your day. To be a witness to your love and be have been able to retell of your love story through the lens of my camera was certainly my pleasure. I appreciate you both and pray that Jehovah God continue to bless your marriage.
All my love to you both!!!
